When MBTI meets blockchain: What trading styles do different personalities have?
When MooDengs market value reached $400 million in a week, and when GOATs market value reached $800 million in two weeks, more and more people in the community were slapping their thighs. Those who sold at a loss or missed the opportunity were regretting why their purchases were back to zero, and whether they caught up with such a good opportunity. Not only meme coins, but also Bitcoin prices were close to a record high in the early morning of October 30, reaching $73,562 at one point, and only $160 away from a new record high.
After so many years of cryptocurrency trading, you will definitely find that everyone has different trading styles, logics, and projects because of their different personalities and experiences, but everyone has made money more or less. This year is a watershed in the crypto industry. Bitcoin and altcoins are completely independent, and meme has become the absolute leading narrative. We really want to know what kind of benefits everyones personality will bring in such a rare market situation.
It is the sixth anniversary of the cryptocurrency trading platform Bitget. As a trading platform that has experienced several rounds of bull and bear markets, it is more suitable for reference in terms of user portraits. So we hit it off and asked Bitget to help us contact 100 users to try to find the connection between personality and trading. In terms of personality, we chose the popular MBTI test, which has a total of 16 personality types, which is more subdivided than the zodiac. In the interview, we covered trading styles, risk preferences, this years earnings, and even designed scenarios to see what decisions they would make in specific scenarios.
After an in-depth investigation and interview of these 100 Bitget users, we can easily find that Type I introverts account for 76% of the cryptocurrency community, while Type E extroverts account for only 24%. INTJ accounts for the highest proportion, reaching 18%, while INFP, ISTP and INFJ account for the second, third and fourth place respectively. There is also a personality that was not collected in this sample.
It should be noted that this article is based on a small sample survey of 100 people, which may be biased and cannot fully represent the entire cryptocurrency community. Next, lets take a look at the trading experience of each MBTI, and will you be the outlier?
INTJ: Insight
INTJ likes to bury themselves in technical details and develop long-term investment strategies. They have a special liking for disruptive technology projects such as Layer 2 and cross-chain protocols. After all, who doesnt want to be a trendsetter in the wave of technology? In fact, 86.67% of INTJs adopt a long-term holding strategy and focus on the long-term value of the project. After all, financial freedom requires patience and is not a game of getting rich overnight. They believe that only by deeply understanding the technical innovation and practical application of the project can the real wealth code be found in the currency circle.
In terms of investment returns: 46.67% of INTJs have returns between 0-10% this year, representing the conservative faction; 40% have negative returns, which may be due to too deep technical research, forgetting that the market still has fluctuations; 13.33% have returns between 30-50%, which has regained some of the trading winning rate for INTJs research personality. INTJs investment style can be summarized in one sentence: When others havent discovered the treasure, Im already digging. They prefer left-side trading and make arrangements in advance before the market pays attention, so they are also one step ahead and like to play Bitget pre-market trading and launchpad. When everyone is discussing a certain coin, they may have already started researching the next one.
INTJs are generally not very active on social media, and will not follow the trend to spread unconfirmed news. 46.67% only discuss transactions with a few friends or colleagues, rather than being active on social media. It is difficult to find close friends, so three or five are enough. Their social venues are mainly professional forums and technical communities. If you want to find them at a party, you may need to look for the person holding a notebook in the corner. They value high-quality information and trust verified sources of information, such as academic papers, white papers, and technical reports. Gossip news? Thank you, not interested. If the technical innovation of a project is not enough for them to stay up all night to study, then sorry, next person.
INFP: Feelings
If you see someone in a corner of a cafe drinking latte, flipping through a philosophy book, and thinking about how to use blockchain to change the world, then congratulations, you have met an INFP in the cryptocurrency world. Their hearts are full of ideals and emotions, and they believe that cryptocurrency is not only an investment tool, but also a way to realize social ideals.
INFPs like to invest in projects that reflect their values. After all, nothing makes them more excited than supporting a project that can make the world a better place. Data shows that 90% of INFP investors consider the impact of the project on the industry when choosing a project. They believe that through their investment, they can push the world in a better direction, so this type of personality always appears in the construction of public goods projects and lives a life of digital nomads.
INFPs investment style can be summarized in one sentence: Where the heart leads, the footsteps follow. They tend to make investment decisions based on intuition and personal values, and prefer right-side trading. When a project resonates with them, they will join without hesitation. Regarding risk, 70% of INFPs are willing to take certain risks to support projects they believe in, but they will also control risks based on their feelings. They are willing to pay for their ideals, but it does not mean blindly taking risks. In terms of investment returns, 60% of INFPs have a return of 0-10% this year, which is too conservative.
ISTP: Spontaneous
ISTPs seem to prefer right-side trading. When a project sparks their interest, they will rush in without hesitation. However, they are also very lucky because they have some professional traders and researchers around them who can provide first-hand trading advice and wealth codes. They also usually trust these suggestions very much and will make trades after simple judgment and screening.
Regarding risk, most ISTPs are more concerned about the experience and value of investment rather than pure economic returns. They are willing to take moderate risks as long as it brings satisfaction and fun. They are very picky and casual about emerging projects, and nearly half of ISTPs will make decisions based on the project situation. As for Meme coin, ISTPs attitude is a bit subtle, 53.33% are interested, but will invest cautiously, probably due to market psychology research.
In terms of investment returns, their returns may not be stable, with more gains and losses. Sometimes, they may get a good return by investing in a popular meme; sometimes, they may miss market opportunities because of pursuing personal preferences. But 40% of ISFPs have achieved a 30% return this year.
An ISTP Bitget user we interviewed is also reflecting on his investment system. Because he is not sensitive to details and data, he mostly follows the advice of people around him, so he often forgets his positions and is too slow in selling and taking profits, which accidentally makes him a diamond hand, with his positions cut in half and zeroed out. Therefore, the product he uses most frequently now is Bitget copy trading, which helps him find reliable traders, automate operations, and make quick decisions to prevent himself from forgetting to sell.
INFJ: Vision
INFJ in the cryptocurrency world is an idealist, with a heart full of beautiful visions for the future.
INFJ likes to invest in projects that can change the world, a typical example being Layer 2 in the first half of this year. They focus on the mission and vision of the project and believe that blockchain technology can bring about social innovation. Data shows that 85% of INFJ investors will consider the positive impact of projects on society from an idealistic perspective when choosing projects.
INFJs investment method is to capture the potential trend of the market, make decisions based on intuition and in-depth analysis, and tend to combine left-side and right-side transactions. They will intervene in the early stage of the project, and will also increase their positions when the trend is clear. They will participate in Bitgets launchpad and launchpool based on market conditions, but they almost never play contracts. Regarding risks, 70% of INFJs will evaluate whether it is worth taking risks based on the mission and value of the project. In terms of investment returns, 60% of INFJs have returns between 10-30%, and they value long-term value growth rather than short-term income fluctuations.
75% of INFJs like to share their insights in small circles or professional communities. They are not very keen on speaking out in public, but prefer in-depth and constructive discussions. They value intuition and insight, and trust sources of information that can inspire thinking, such as in-depth analysis articles, industry reports, and KOL opinions.
ISFP: Agile
ISFPs in the cryptocurrency world are doers who like to get their hands dirty and enjoy the process of solving problems. ISFPs have a natural sensitivity to technology and numbers, and they pay more attention to practicality. They like to explore new and novel projects, especially those that allow them to personally participate, test, and improve. At the same time, they are also good at candlestick research.
Their industry backgrounds are also diverse. 26.67% are from the financial/investment industry; 26.67% are full-time cryptocurrency traders who treat investment as a career; 13.33% are from the IT/Internet industry and are part of the army of programmers. In addition to the cryptocurrency circle, most of them also dabble in other financial investments such as A-shares and Hong Kong stocks.
A Bitget user with ISFP personality told us that he usually spends most of his time in K-line analysis and bicycle racing. Although these are things that can bring a sense of adrenaline rush, they will not indulge in such stimulation in their daily lives. Instead, they pursue a peaceful mood and strict execution of plans. White papers and good news are made by people with intentions, but most of the data such as trading volume and market value are true. Therefore, in life, he likes to analyze the market and study K-lines alone. He doesnt like to mix circles by reading current affairs news, and even doesnt like to communicate with others in professional communities or technical forums. He prefers his own practical experience and trusts his intuition and judgment. The Bitget product that this user uses most is contracts, which are usually mainstream currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. According to the 200 ma technical indicators and the trading volume and market value of the currency, the stop loss point is strictly set.
The investment style of ISFP can be summarized in one sentence: Action comes first, and opportunities are fleeting. They tend to make decisions quickly based on real-time changes in the market, prefer right-side trading, short-term operations, and more contract operations. When the market fluctuates, they may have completed multiple transactions in a short period of time. ISFPs returns may fluctuate greatly. Sometimes, they can get high returns in a short period of time; sometimes, they may suffer losses because of being too aggressive. But for them, what they learn in the process is more important than the results.
ENFP: Enthusiasm
If you see someone chatting passionately at a blockchain conference, describing the bright future of the crypto world, you have probably met an ENFP in the crypto world. They are always full of enthusiasm.

As for risk, most ENFPs are willing to try high-risk, high-return investment opportunities. Of course, the returns fluctuate greatly. Sometimes, they can get amazing returns by stepping on the hot spots; sometimes, they may suffer losses because of being too optimistic. They are social experts. 90% of ENFPs are active in social media and communities. They like to share their insights, organize discussions, and even initiate online and offline activities. They believe that connecting with others can create greater value.

INTP has a relatively rational understanding of risk. 70% of INTP will moderately participate in high-risk and high-return investment opportunities, but will strictly control the risk ratio. They are willing to take certain risks to pursue high returns, but will reduce uncertainty through theoretical verification and logical reasoning. In terms of investment returns, almost all INTPs have returns between 0-10%, which is stable and rational. They do not pursue overnight wealth, but pay more attention to long-term value accumulation.
Of course, there are exceptions for INTPs. A Bitget user told us that the transaction he was most satisfied with this year was BOME, which was not his area of expertise. But when he saw the comparison between the pool and the market value, and only a few people in the community mentioned the huge size of the pool, he bought an ANT position. As the price rose rapidly, he quickly increased his position. Finally, he waited for the launch of the big trading platform.
60% of INTPs prefer to discuss with a small number of like-minded friends or colleagues. They are active in professional communities and like to share their research results.
ISTJ: Discipline
If you see someone checking the market regularly every day, recording price trends, and executing transactions strictly according to the plan, then congratulations, you have met an ISTJ in the cryptocurrency circle. They are rule maintainers who pay attention to details and order.
ISTJ likes a steady investment strategy and prefers mature projects, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. They believe that long-term holding is the best way to gain returns and are not easily affected by market fluctuations. In addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum, they are most favored by Bitgets financial products. The recent BGSOL is his favorite. BGSOL is Bitgets liquidity pledge solution product. After staking SOL, you will get BGSOL tokens. The current comprehensive annualized rate of return is about 30.15%. Not putting all your eggs in one basket can also generate income from liquidity that is not used temporarily.
ISTJs tend to trade on the left side, buying when the price is reasonable and holding for a long time. They are cautious about risks. 80% of ISTJs prefer stable returns and avoid high-risk investments. They will study the fundamentals of the project in depth, pay attention to technical white papers and team background. For them, data and facts are more important than anything else. They prefer to think independently. 70% of ISTJs like to analyze the market alone, but will also communicate with professionals when necessary. They are not very active on social media and prefer to read professional reports and information.
ENTJ: Leader

Similarly, ENTJs tend to trade on the left side, making a move before others see an opportunity. They have a rational understanding of risk, and 60% of ENTJs are willing to take high risks in pursuit of high returns. They are good at analyzing the macro environment and industry trends and developing long-term strategies. They will not be disturbed by short-term fluctuations and pay more attention to long-term value.
85% of ENTJs are active in industry conferences, professional forums, and social media. They enjoy meeting industry elites and expanding their network.
ENFJ: Sharing
90% of ENFJs are active in communities, social media, and offline events. They are willing to share, good at listening, and are the soul of the community. They tend to trade on the left side and plan ahead based on their trust in the project and their vision. Regarding risk, 70% of ENFJs are willing to take moderate risks to support meaningful projects, focus on interaction with the team and community, and like to have a deep understanding of the ideas and values behind the project.
ISFJ: Guardian
ISFJ in the cryptocurrency circle focuses on stability and reliability, likes to invest in proven and secure projects, and prefers mainstream currencies.
So they prefer to trade on the right side and take action when the market trend is clear. They are cautious about risks. 85% of ISFJs prefer low-risk investments and pursue stable returns. They will spend time researching the safety and reliability of the project and avoid participating in overly complex or risky investments.
They are not very active on social media, and 60% of ISFJs prefer to discuss investments with close friends or family. They value trust and reliable relationships.
ESTJ: Execution
ESTJs are practical people who pursue excellent execution and like to invest in projects with clear business models and profitability. They focus on the practical application and market prospects of the projects and prefer to invest in tokens that can bring actual benefits.

They like to debate and think, often analyzing the market and projects from different angles, and are good at discovering opportunities that others have not noticed.
ESFP, ESFJ, ESTP: optimistic, united, adventurous
These three types of MBTI tend to trade on the right side, prefer high risks, and pursue high returns. Since there are too few people in these three categories in the sample, they are considered the rarest species in the cryptocurrency circle.
In general, we found that investors in the cryptocurrency circle have a greater risk tolerance than traditional investors. This also indirectly inferred and confirmed the user characteristics of different trading platforms. For example, because Bitget is relatively fast in listing coins and launching new products, Bitget users have also shown stronger investment acumen and cutting-edge nature to a certain extent.
Among them, introverted (I) investors are better at deep thinking, prefer technical analysis and research, and formulate long-term strategies, and often play a research-oriented role in the market; while extroverted (E) investors rely on social insights, are better at finding wealth codes at the forefront of the community, and are good at capturing market hotspots.
This also provides us with an interesting perspective to understand how investors with different personality types survive and develop in the ever-changing cryptocurrency market. It also provides some reference information for our own personality, so that we can find more suitable trading strategies and trading products according to our own personality traits.
While selecting the topic of MBTI and Cryptocurrency Trading Style, I also lamented that it has been a long time since I chatted with so many ordinary users who are involved in cryptocurrency at the same time. In addition to seeing the diversity of users, we also saw the growth and innovation of trading platforms. Over the years of cryptocurrency trading, the number of projects has increased from one per month to tens of thousands per day. Trading platforms are also constantly iterating to adapt to the ever-changing trading environment.
Thinking of the most popular pre-market trading this year, it was actually started by Bitget. It is also an innovative application scenario that finally appeared two years after the industry crash in 2022. The industry actually needs innovation in trading.
Now that Bitget is celebrating its sixth anniversary, we can look forward to the next six years. Perhaps the industry will develop to the next level in the RWA, stablecoin and other markets with unlimited potential. Bitget will continue to innovate and create new trading scenarios and products to meet the needs of different users. After all, whoever wins the users wins the world. The most industry-recognized compliment for a trading platform may not only be this platform can help retail investors make money, but also that it can provide a variety of products to meet the needs of different types of investors.
Finally, with the arrival of the US election voting day next week, Trumps chances of winning are steadily rising, and the cryptocurrency market may usher in a more intense bull market peak. Regardless of your personality type, we wish you all can find the trading strategy that suits you best, while paying attention to risks and maximizing your investment returns.
