UofTHacks 12 , Canadas first student-organized Hackathon, recently concluded a 36-hour event. The event attracted more than 500 participants, including developers, designers, and entrepreneurs, encouraging diverse ideas and solutions. A total of 126 BUIDLs (projects) were registered, highlighting the innovation capabilities of various industries.
Participants exchanged ideas in a creative atmosphere, with a network designed to support both experienced developers and newcomers. The Hackathon featured a variety of different tracks and bounties, motivating participants to compete for top prizes: the first place will receive a Meta Quest 3 S VR headset, the second place will receive an Anycubic Kobra 3D printer, and the third place will receive a Fujifilm Instax Polaroid camera.
UofTHacks 12 was sponsored by major companies such as Tech@RBC, Ubisoft, 1 Password and Google, and supported by academic partners such as the University of Toronto. The event fostered networking and collaboration opportunities. Its social impact was further fueled by active participation through platforms such as Instagram, X (Twitter) and LinkedIn. Phish-Eye Lens : A gaming-style web application that increases cybersecurity awareness by simulating phishing scenarios, using AI-generated puzzles, and powered by React and Node.js.
MomTellMeTo.Study : Motivates students and improves academic self-discipline and success by generating AI-driven schedules and reminders based on syllabus data.
YouLingo : Improve the language learning experience through personalized YouTube video content and provide an immersive educational experience based on user interests.
One Million Notes : Connects users through aggregated notes, drives inspiration through shared experiences, and enables real-time sharing and review through GenAI.
bluequest – Campus Exploration App : Use React Native to gamify campus tours and create a rich exploration experience for the University of Toronto.
Off the Hook : An alternate reality game that educates users on cybersecurity by simulating phishing attack scenarios.
RBveal : A phishing simulation tool that uses real-life scenarios to increase cybersecurity awareness, leveraging Twilio, OpenAI, and Express.js technologies.
SnapQuest : Encouraging creativity and community interaction through location-based photography prompts, using Oracle Cloud and MongoDB.
Scribble : Leverages augmented reality with geo-tagged notes, using Midnight鈥檚 zk-proof technology to maintain privacy and enable rich location-based interactions.
FlowShield : A platform that improves transaction security by aggregating detailed data, enabling high-precision fraud detection for merchants around the world.
Pitch, Please : Uses AI to assist startups with mock presentations, providing practical presentation feedback and AI-driven role analysis.
CodeView : Transforms handwritten code into insightful analysis, assesses quality, and converts pseudocode into Python, enabling developers to automatically calculate time complexity.
