Hackathon Summary
The Funding the Commons Earth Commons Hackathon took place from October 7 to November 7, attracting 356 developers to register 116 projects. The event focused on creating solutions for financing public goods, with an emphasis on regenerative finance, decentralized governance, and climate innovation. The primarily online Hackathon held an optional offline conference in Bangkok on November 6 and 7 to promote global collaboration.
Participants initially worked through an ideation phase that included weekly challenges, which then progressed to prototype development. The Hackathon provided mentoring and workshop access, and judging criteria focused on innovation, impact, and feasibility. While specific projects were not detailed, the high level of participation showed a strong interest in the target area.
The Hackathon was co-organized by Funding the Commons, which advocates for blockchain-based public goods infrastructure, and Earth Commons, which emphasizes natural resource governance. By engaging a diverse global community, the event aims to drive systemic change in the management and stewardship of public goods.
