Jupiters second round of airdrop clues re-organized: snapshots have been taken, voting is about to start

Background

Earlier last week, we sorted out the potential clues of Jupiter’s second round of airdrops (Jupuary #2) in “ Jupiter’s second round of airdrops is coming? An article sorting out the existing clues ”. The core of the full article is as follows:

  1. Including the first round of airdrops in January this year, Jupiter expects to conduct a total of four rounds of airdrops, each of which will most likely occur in January of each year;

  2. Jupiter still reserves 2.1 billion JUP for the next three rounds of airdrops (already included in the destruction data);

  3. Jupiter founder meow once said that the airdrop will be driven by the community, and mentioned that the criteria for the next round of airdrops will be quite different from the first round of airdrops;

  4. Many institutions have proposed specific airdrop plans of their own design in the Jupiter Governance Forum, and some of these plans have received certain community support.

A week later, more new clues have emerged about the second round of Jupiter airdrops. Especially with meow himself chatting frantically in Discord in recent days, there have been some new clues about core issues such as snapshot time, airdrop time, and reference standards.

Snapshot time

The first is the most concerned issue of snapshot time. Although Jupiter has not yet released an announcement through official social media, meow has clearly mentioned that (airdrop reference) standard is between November 2nd.

In response to this, some users further asked whether all old users were eligible for the second round of airdrops. Meow gave a clear reply that they were “users since November last year” – note the word “users” here, which will be explained in detail below.

So it is clear that the reference range for Jupiter’s second round of airdrops will be from November 2 last year to November 2 this year.

Luftabwurf start time

Regarding the airdrop time, a user once asked, How many days will the voting be open? Will the airdrop query be launched on December 1st? Meow gave the answer It is expected to be opened on November 25th, but did not clearly indicate which question it corresponds to.

As meow later made clear in X: …we would be very sad if JUP fell into the wrong hands, and we will be arguing vigorously over the next 2 weeks about what right means…

From this, we can infer that the opening date of November 25 given by meow should be the start time for airdrop voting, when the community will decide by voting which specific airdrop plan to implement.

Jupiter will launch the airdrop query page only after the voting is completed. Considering the time required for voting, the page will not be released until December at the earliest.

Airdrop criteria: Controversy over staking and voting

During the discussions over the past two days, one of the biggest controversies has been the issue of the criteria for airdrops, namely whether the staking and voting behavior of JUP holders should be taken into account.

Meow gave a clear negative answer to this: Staking and voting will not be included in the airdrop criteria.

Considering that the voting subjects of the Jupiter proposal are JUP pledgers, meow’s statement will inevitably lead to opposition pressure from JUP holders, but meow’s logic is that the airdrop is mainly for the narrow users who use Jupiter products, and the pledge behavior has nothing to do with the airdrop (this part of the behavior will be rewarded through the ASR module), but pledgers can also obtain airdrops by using Jupiter.

Meow did not mention too many details about the specific airdrop criteria for user behavior (it is expected that the details will only be known after the voting is opened), but it clearly emphasized that bot addresses will be removed to ensure the fairness of the airdrop.

Other elements: Unlock restrictions

In addition to the above points, another point that has attracted much attention is the lock-up limit of airdrop tokens.

meow himself once mentioned that it is expected that the airdrop will have a 1-year lock-up limit.

Jedoch, meow also mentioned the possibility of immediately receiving tokens , saying that users can choose to lock up or take away 40% immediately – but meow also stated that this standard has not yet been fully determined.

Team attitude: Send the airdrop to the right people

This morning, after finishing the community discussion, meow himself posted on X to express his thoughts on the second round of airdrops.

As we approach what may be the most contentious vote in Jupiter’s history, I want everyone to know something important. The JUP is a valuable strategic asset, the result of my life’s work and the hard work of our team, and we will never treat it carelessly – we would be heartbroken to see the JUP fall into the wrong hands. Over the next two weeks, we will vigorously debate what “right” means – and no matter the outcome, I want everyone to know that I have the long-term interests of the JUP in mind.”

As one of the most successful projects in the Solana ecosystem, Jupiter received considerable praise when designing the first round of airdrops, and JUP has also shown a good trend after the airdrops. As the second round of airdrops approaches, we have reason to believe that Jupiter can once again deliver a satisfactory answer to most users.
